First, “Why should I fall in love with a stranger?”
To quote the great poet Hafiz, because it’s what we all want, what we all go around saying - Love Me.
Admit something:
Everyone you see, you say to them, "Love me."
Of course you do not do this out loud, otherwise
someone would call the cops.
Still, though, think about this, this great pull in us to connect.
Why not become the one who lives with a
full moon in each eye that is
always saying,
with that sweet moon language,
what every other eye in
this world is
dying to
hear?
Love Me.
You create a container sacred enough, honest enough, human enough that people begin to see themselves in one another. And that seeing? That’s the beginning of love.
Here’s how you might do it:
Invite vulnerability.
People fall in love when they feel safe enough to be seen. So give them a moment of stillness. A breath. An invitation. Let eye contact linger. Tremble a little.
Use ritual.
Rituals bond us. Light a candle together, hum a note, hold hands, repeat a word, write something down. Not every ritual is sacred—but all sacred moments are ritualized.
Tell the truth.
Real love can only grow where truth lives. So tell the messy, unpolished, too-honest story. Trust that others can hold it.
…
Who doesn’t desire more love in their life. Not simply romantic, love for loves sake. A life full of love will serve us all.
