I am an artist, and as an artist, I feel like I have to justify my existence by making a “living.” This is what capitalism has done, convinced us that the money and accolades are worth more than the practice or craft or passion itself. This is why society in general does not respect aspiring or unknown artists.

It’s a similar situation for someone seeking peace and liberation vs the capitalistic mindset of getting the bag (money). It’s hard for others to see the benefit of your practice and to appreciate how you are spending your time unless you’re making money from it. However, regardless of the field you are in, or the passion you are in love with, if we continue to justify our existence based on the approval of others we will always feel insecure and frustrated. Always.

I recently saw this video of Jim Carrey at the Golden Globes and I was shook!
