LAND
It took a long time. 38 years. But today it seems very clear to me that nothing. No single thing. No invention, no us, no individual precedes the land. That if there is any God, amongst the many Gods, land is number one. Land precedes everything. Gives us our stories, our books, our minds, our hearts and fabrications and genius. Land first. Land before dollar. Land before all. And I am afraid we have forgotten land. I know we have forgotten land because we have also forgotten each other.
Take a second today to honor the land. To stop. To notice the thing beneath your feet that precedes all. To notice the thing holding you up. Giving you breath. Giving you life. Thank you land.
